ABM asked themselves what qualities a perfect vintage tremolo
should have. Their conclusion?
“It should sound great, always stay in tune, have a comfortable feel
and look good, all the while fitting into the vintage
context of the instrument.”
The 5050 series is made of high-density steel and contains no
inhomogeneous die cast components. The result is a
sophisticated & percussive Strat sound with lots of twang.
To combat runaway detuning and poor intonation, the 5050-V uses ABM’s PVS
bent steel saddles – these are specially designed to have threads over the entire
height of the saddle, leading to better tuning stability and a honkier sound.
The tremolo arm is threaded, and is height-adjustable by an allen screw built into the block – it is positioned just under the base plate.
An interesting feature are the Advanced String Guides – tiny grooves where the strings exit the base plate, just before making contact with the saddles. This tiny optimization reduces the break angle, which in turn increases string life.
Guitar Parts Europa stocks the 5050-V in a classic Chrome or lightly Aged variant.
